The Careser dam is located at 2,603 meters above sea level in the municipality of Peio (Trento). It was built in 1931 to use the waters from the Cereser glacier for hydroelectric energy. Those waters still power the underlying power plants of the Dolomiti Energia Group today, contributing to the production of clean energy.
The reservoir has a maximum depth of 57 meters and is enclosed by a concrete dam of the same height. The dam is connected to the Malga Mare power plant which exploits a drop of 635 meters to produce energy. The dam and lake are set in a charming Alpine landscape.
