An overall surface area of 13 km² makes Glorenza the smallest city in Alto Adige and the second smallest in the entire Alpine area.
Its unique character is formed by the surrounding mountain landscape. The border between the town centre and outside is marked by perfectly conserved medieval walls and three imposing Renaissance towers. Three access gates lead to the historic centre which is characterised by narrow medieval alleys and two distinctive connecting porticoes.
An accurate reconstruction of the low Medieval porticoes, dating to 1304, has helped maintain their original aspect.
