Parco Aurelio Peccei, a former industrial area once occupied by the Iveco-Telai factories in Turin, is now the first totally eco-sustainable park in Italy and dedicated to the industrialist and Partisan Aurelio Peccei.
Bounded by the adjacent Docks Dora complex and via Cigna, its 27,000m2 of grass are the result of an important process of urban transformation that aims to replace industrial buildings with new residences, commercial spaces, trees, LED lights, games, exercise equipment and cycle paths.
The choice was made to conserve only those buildings that represented the original character of the area to continue its memory while providing the growing neighbourhood with a new identity. Examples are the capriate Porcheddu, the so-called “Cathedral”, today a setting for socializing, events, performances, and the piezometrica tower, the “belltower”, recovered as an element of industrial archaeology.
