The Trabucchi walkway unfolds at the foot of the Borgo Antico of Termoli, a stretch of coastline which offers access to several trabucchi, the fishing machines still being built in the 19th century.
The first trabucco in Termoli was built by a fisherman, Felice Marinucci, in 1850, impressed by a construction he had seen in Ancona which allowed fishing in bad weather conditions and without going out to sea. The wooden structures with their large nets are dotted along the coastline stretching from the Swabian Castle to the harbour and are still owned and used today by local fishermen.
