The Giant’s Garden is a work of environmental art in an open-air public space in the city of Cento (FE). Created between 2000 and 2006, the artist Marco Pellizzola was inspired by a fairy-tale written by his daughter. The garden covers a surface area of 1.3 hectares and hosts cultural initiatives for children, teens, schools and families.
The huge sculptures can be played on by children and are decorated with mosaics: a 33m lizard stretches out on a lawn, a 5m x 12m leaf rises up to the sky, a 13m blackbird rests on a small hill, falling stars, little fish, flowers and water gardens; dozens of birds fleeing their cages, symbols, signs and fragments of fantastical architecture inspired by the natural world, together create a fairy-tale atmosphere which is harmoniously integrated into the green of the park.
