Built between 1955 and 1970 in Magnano (province of Biella), Villa Flecchia has simple lines and a position that dominates the Canavese river. The residence conserves furnishings and a valuable collection of 19th century paintings that reflects Piero Enrico’s passion for painters from the Piedmont school between the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
The collection gathers a variety of styles that range from the poetic romantic landscapes of Antonio Fontanesi to the abstract compositions of Luigi Spazzapan a Friuli native. The painters’ very different approaches are linked by a common passion for landscape. The paintings almost seem to compete with the extraordinary view that every window of the villa offers, which leaves the eye free to roam across plains with thickly wooded areas and farmed fields dotted with small residential centres, and get lost in the horizon, interrupted only by the mountain ranges of Serra Morenicain Ivrea.
In 2011 Mr and Mrs Enrico donated the villa to FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) to fulfil Pietro’s intention of “preserving into the future the artefacts I have collected with love and sacrifice over the course of my lifetime”.
