The House-Museum of the Antiquarian Ivan Bruschi is situated in the historical centre of Arezzo, in the elegant 14th century Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, facing the Romanesque Pieve di Santa Maria.
The facade is characterised by regular-shaped blocks of dressed pietra serena (local sandstone): the interiors feature a 15th century style cloister with an ancient central well and a loggia of sandstone columns.
The ground floor has large vaulted rooms while the elegant reception rooms on the first floor have well-conserved wooden ceilings. Various rooms feature the original sandstone portals, ledges and fireplaces typical of the era.
The exhibition route unfolds across a succession of 16 rooms, displaying the wide-ranging and eclectic collection owned by Ivan Bruschi, an antiquarian who founded the Fiera Antiquaria (Antique Fair) of Arezzo.
