The botanical garden of Trieste is structured into different areas, and is also associated with a nature reserve formed by the Biasoletto and the Farneto forests (90 hectares in total).
Over the years, the botanical garden has increasingly played an educational and recreational role, in addition to its natural position as a point of reference in the intersection between scientific research and environmental conservation, aware of representing an opportunity to offer cultural activities to an increasingly wider segment of the population.
The botanical garden of Trieste considers itself an island, albeit artificial, of floral diversity, where it is possible, thanks to conservation, cultivation and reproduction activities, to admire medicinal, textile and food plants, local horticultural varieties, spontaneous, indigenous regional and local flora, aquatic and marsh plants, succulent plants.
