Baita Segantini is located at 2,290m a.s.l. at the top of Passo Rolle (hamlet in the municipality of Siror) at the foot of the Pale di San Martino and Cimon Della Pala mountains, whose reflections in the small lake beside the baita make the panorama even more evocative. The mountain hut is named for Giovanni Segantini, a famous Trentino landscape painter originally from Arco.
It was built in 1936 by the artist Alfredo Paluselli who decided to retire in solitude to a place surrounded by nature. He began by dismantling a tabìa, an ancient barn, in Bellamonte and taking it by cart to its present location where he assembled it and spent almost 35 years in total solitude.
The baita is easily reached in about 40 minutes by following a trekking route and is today a very popular and photographed restaurant refuge.
