On the location front, developer Alessandro Guzzo was inspired by the High Plain of Asiago and, more specifically, the municipality of Enego: "As a child I liked imagining what was in those old abandoned houses in the woods and in The Land of Pain I was able to recreate them and let my imagination run wild in a horror context. The High Plain of Asiago itself is home to small isolated contradas that seem frozen in time; these places, far removed from life in the city, can be an excellent source of inspiration".
