Borgo, located in a bottleneck of Valsugana, developed around the Brenta river squeezed between mount Ciolino to the north and mount Rocchetta to the south. It is the only historic centre in Trentino to occupy both banks of the river.
Monuments include: the Church dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, an interesting 18th-century building with paintings and relics of the patron saint; the bell tower designed by Tommaso Temanza; and the nearby small Church of St Roche, entirely frescoed by Francesco Corradi. Nearby is the palace where Napoleon Bonaparte slept while passing through Valsugana.
The main square features the Church of St. Anne, once part of a large convent and one of the few buildings to have survived the fire of 1862 which destroyed much of the town. Another such survivor is the present-day Town Hall which still has a lovely cloister.
The historic centre (especially the "borgo vècio") is characterized by numerous ancient buildings, with interesting portals, frescoes and other decorations.
