The ancient town of Bolgheri, which grew up around a Medieval castle, sits in the middle of a rural landscape rich in vines and olive trees. The town, which is not far from the coast, is located on a hill that can be reached via the picturesque and famous Viale dei Cipressi. Buildings of interest in the town include the 18th-century Oratory of San Guido, the Church of Santi Giacomo e Cristoforo, and the childhood home of Giosuè Carducci.
