Lake Caprolace, part of the National Park of Circeo, is located on the coastline that stretches from Anzio to San Felice Circeo south of Rome, between the Lake dei Monaci and the Lake of Sabaudia.
Despite its small size – 2.3km2 with a maximum depth of 3m – it is a place of great natural interest, which becomes particularly obvious in the nearby Riserva dei Pantani d’Inferno, a freshwater area whose wetland varies seasonally, where 260 species of bird can be found, including the pink flamingo, storks, black winged stilts, ducks, white and grey herons, coots, cormorants and cranes.
