San Pietro, a beach of long sand dunes and crystal clear sea, takes its name from the Sanctuary of St. Peter, the site of a small Byzantine church which became a pilgrimage site as the place where the apostle Peter disembarked after a storm.
The River Chidro is fed by countless springs which burst into a basin whose walls resemble those of a dead volcano. The clear water along the path acquires intense colours varying from blue, turquoise and emerald green. At the end of a short walk, the cold water bursts into the blue sea at San Pietro in Bevagna (TA).
