The beach area of Sant’Andrea, one of the marinas of Melendugno which is 10km away, is situated only 2km from Torre dell’Orso and 20km from Lecce, and has been awarded the Blue Flag certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (Bandiera Blu).
A thick pine forest, extending out to the Alimini Lakes, towers over the ancient, Adriatic fishing hamlet of Sant’Andrea, which takes its name from the 16th century watchtower that dominates the coast with the lighthouse and the harbour. Its faraglioni (sea stacks) rise out of crystal clear water, creating a magical atmosphere and a wild, pristine natural setting. When the stars come out, mirrored in the sea, the bay moves to the rhythm of the music from the many bars and clubs that make Sant’Andrea the summer capital of reggae.
