The third instalment of the adventures of the Rovelli family (following When Mom is Away, When Mom is Away … With the family) is set in Puglia where eldest daughter Camilla (Angelica Elli) is going to attend university with her boyfriend Antonio (Gabriele Pizzurro). Carlo (Fabio De Luigi), however, is not yet ready to let go of his firstborn, nor to entrust her to the hands of a boy he has no confidence in... on arrival at the Paradiso family home, he takes every opportunity to make himself an unwelcome guest. Through the ensuing thefts, lies, romantic elopements and amusing misunderstandings, the Rovellis and the Paradisos come to realise that, despite differences and lack of understanding, they are now one big family.
"From a strictly visual point of view”, explains director Alessandro Genovesi, “this new chapter includes different colours and light to those of the city that characterized the first film and the snow and the mountains of the second. Another new element is the sea, which is a strong presence along with the countryside. In addition to the Paradiso family’s large house, setting for the adventures and misadventures of our heroes, as they grapple with the changes and adaptations that life brings".
Puglia, specifically Salento, is an integral part of the film whose story unfolds in Lecce, where locations included the historic centre, in particular via Templari, porta Napoli and Palazzo Rollo, Gallipoli, Melpignano (piazza and Church of San Giorgio), Nardò (masseria Nociglia) and Galatone. On the coast, locations included the parco naturale regionale Isola di Sant’Andrea e litorale di Punta Pizzo (in Gallipoli), the park of Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano.
