The Sanctuary of Madre Cristo rises from the edge of a ravine on the road from Rignano Garganico to Foggia. The building has two naves with an added sacristy, a hermit’s dwelling and a courtyard. The venerated wooden statue of the Madonna and Child, dates to the 16th/17th century and sees the Madonna wearing a damask dress. On the first Tuesday after Easter, a procession honouring the Madonna leaves from the sanctuary, asking for her protection against drought. During this festival, meat is cooked under the ashes.
