Built between the late 1940s and early 1950s, the hydroelectric power station of Santa Massenza (Trento) is part of a complex hydraulic system used to bring water from the peaks of Adamello to lake Garda. It is the work of Giovanni Muzio, the architect who designed the headquarters of the Catholic University, Palazzo della Triennale in Milan and the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth.
An unusual feature of the power plant is the imposing turbine hall, approximately 150,000 cubic meters in volume, which was completely dug out of the rock at an approximate depth of 600 meters.
