Built in 1929 in Val di Peio (Trento), the Cogolo hydroelectric power plant is still operational and uses the waters of the Noce Bianco stream which descends from the peaks of mount Careser.
Perfectly integrated into the surrounding natural landscape, it is often called the most beautiful power plant in Italy, thanks in part to an external appearance more reminiscent of an Alpine hotel than a production complex. The large internal rooms are finely decorated with an ancient graffito technique, and there is a painting of Saint John of Nepomuk, protector of floods, on the outdoor wall of one building.
