Lake Caldaro, the largest natural swimming lake in Alto Adige and the warmest of the Alpine lakes, is surrounded by the vineyards of southern Alto Adige, about 4 km from the towns of Caldaro and Termeno. The northern shore, its sunniest point, borders the village of Campi al Lago.
The lake measures approximately 1.8 km in length and 0.9 km in width, with a surface area of about 155 hectares; it is 4 m in depth and located at an altitude of 216 m. It offers the ideal conditions for sailing and windsurfing in summer and completely freezes over in the coldest winters.
Visible in the distance, on top of a hill just above the lake in a scenic position are the ruins of Castelchiaro.
