The Merano civic theatre, also known as the Puccini theatre, was built in 1900 in just 14 months. Located in the heart of the city in piazza Teatro, between corso Libertà and ponte Teatro, it is a prestigious architectural complex that offers the ideal setting for theatrical and musical performances and for cinema screenings, readings and conferences.
Closed in the late 1960s after a fire, it was restored and reopened on November 28, 1978. In 2000, work was completed on the roof and the neoclassical facade, with its art nouveau elements, was repainted in its original colours. The interior comprises an elegant foyer, a hall with 296 velvet seats, dressing rooms, a bar and a terrace.
