The Quadrilatero, or Quadrilatero Romano, is a neighbourhood in the west of the historical centre of Turin. It is bounded by buildings that stand on the site of an ancient Roman settlement between via Santa Teresa, via della Consolata, corso Regina and via XX Settembre. Over the years, the neighbourhood was involved in significant environmental and social requalification and as a result is full of artisan workshops, shops and restored ancient buildings today.
The Quadrilatero comprises important places in the city, including: piazza Emanuele Filiberto, with many restaurants and bars; piazza della Consolata with the sanctuary of the same name facing the historical caffè Al Bicerin; piazza Palazzo di Città, with the Palazzo Civico; the Church of the Holy Shroud, which houses the Museum of the Sacred Shroud; Palazzo Mazzonis, today the location of the Museo d'arte orientale; piazza San Giovanni and the Duomo of Turin, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
