For over 20 years, the non-profit organization Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo has worked in the world of contemporary art and culture. An observatory on present-day artistic trends and cultural styles, it stands at the intersection of art, music, dance, literature and design.
The Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea in Turin has been the Foundation’s principal exhibition space since its inauguration in September 2002. Located in the San Paolo neighbourhood, it stands on the former “Fergat” area once occupied by industrial structures that later fell into disuse. Designed by the architect Claudio Silvestrin, the building is striking for the minimalism of its spaces, created to display today’s art while upholding principles of versatility and practicality of management. The horizontal nature of the building makes managing the operations and daily life of an exhibition centre more efficient: from transport and installation of the works to a facilitated display route for the public.
