The most ancient museum in the world entirely devoted to Egyptian antiquities, the Museo Egizio was founded in 1824 in the 17th-century Palazzo dei Nobili in Turin.
The museum route starts with the historical rooms in the hypogeum and extends over three floors ending on the ground floor with the imposing “Gallery of Kings” which displays monumental statuary and was designed by Dante Ferretti, set designer. The collection extends over 4,000 years of history and displays over 3,300 artefacts: a trip through time that starts in Ancient Egypt and connects various different eras, ending with the modern, recently restructured settings, winding though the Baroque excess of the building and the monumental Mazzucchetti staircase in white marble.
