The Chiablese Rooms are located on the ground floor of Palazzo Chiablese in the historical centre of Turin, and are part of the Royal Museum complex along with the Royal Palace, the Royal Armoury, the Galleria Sabauda, the Museo di antichità, the Royal Gardens, the Royal Library and the Chapel of the Holy Shroud.
The palace, a residence for the Royal house of Savoy for centuries, was destroyed during WWII. Restored by the State, it now houses Ministerial offices, Direzione Regionale per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici del Piemonte and the Soprintendenze.
The Chiablese Rooms were originally intended for use as service areas and consequently have little in the way of decoration. Today they also host temporary exhibitions for the Royal Museums, often by international artists or relating to specific historical eras.
