An extensive beech forest, also known as the Deer Oasis (Oasi del Cervo) for the number of animals present, is located in the area of La Costara in Sasso di Castalda (PZ), at over 1000m above sea level. The tallest of the ancient trees in the forest area, the St. Michael Beech, is estimated to be between 300 and 400 years old. The beech forest has a well-equipped picnic area with tables and barbecue facilities.
