The Church of Santi Marcellino e Festo is located in the historical centre of Naples. This monumental church is part of a vast convent complex deriving from the annexation of two religious buildings in the Middle Ages. It is used by the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II today.
The facade was designed in the early 1600s in a style that recalls the architecture of the 1500s. The atrium is divided into 3 naves with ribbed vaults and columns. The cupola is faced with tiles. The church is laid out on a Latin cross with a dome and the single nave has three chapels on each side. The decorations were created from recycled materials, marble and inlaid wood.
