The Horti Leonini established circa 1581 have conserved their original structure and are an excellent example of a classical Italian garden. A long walk divides the garden symmetrucally, leading to a staircase which is linked to a grassy clearing at the centre of a wood of ancient ilex trees, crisscrossed by winding paths.
