Catanzaro Lido is the coastal neighbourhood of Catanzaro and a tourist and beach destination. Also known as Marina di Catanzaro, the area extends for 5km on the southern outskirts of the city on the Ionian coast in the gulf of Squillace.
The seafront road (2km long) is filled with beaches, hotels and restaurants, in particular on lungomare Stefano Pugliese. In the area of Giovino, a large pine forest has been created on the other side of the road from the beach.
Catanzaro Lido is also an important transit point because of the city harbour and a busy university area with the campus located in adjacent Germaneto. Places of interest in the area include: the Church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo and torre Tonnina, a restored chimney in a disused factory.
