The Laura Bassi school in via Broccaindosso in Bologna comprises 19 classrooms, a staff room (with computer stations printer and scanner, also used for meetings) and a CineStudio with a computer, audio system, projector and videoconferencing. It was established in 1860 as the Scuola Normale Femminile for trainee female teachers, and named after teacher Laura Bassi from Bologna in 1892, and further extended in the 1970s.
In the 1400s approx. it was a convent and the elegant loggias on the first and second courtyards can still be admired today. The building also houses the Church of St Anne, built in 1435 by Carthusian monks, and the seat of the Orthodox Church of St Basil the Great.
