The Rocca of Dozza (BO) is a monumental complex of medieval origins that grew up in the 13th century, transformed by Caterina Sforza into a fortified castle and later, during the Renaissance, converted into a noble residence.
The present-day appearance dates to the late 1400s while the division of rooms in the building – courtyards, entrance, hall and stairs – and the organization of the piano nobile are mostly due to the work commissioned by the Signoria dei Campeggi in the second half of the 1500s.
The Rocca conserves the ancient kitchen, the torture room, prisons and various apartments furnished in their original furniture and paintings. The underground rooms host an enoteca (wine shop) selling products typical of the area.
