In a quiet and residential area in central Milan, surrounded by an enchanting garden with a tennis court and swimming pool, is Villa Necchi Campiglio designed by architect Piero Portaluppi in the early 1930s.
The building is characterised by its large size, with a ground floor that functioned as a formal reception area, including a magnificent veranda overlooking the garden, and the upper floor holding the bedrooms. The splendour of the art deco furnishings, valuable objets and artworks was embellished by recent bequests that added the de’ Micheli and Gian Ferrari collections, with pieces by Tiepolo, Canaletto, Sironi, De Chirico, Martini and Wildt.
In November 2017 the villa added the Guido Sforni Collection (1935-1975): 21 works on paper by great artists of the 1900s such as Picasso, Fontana, Modigliani, Matisse. In 2001 the Necchi sisters entrusted the building to FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano so that the place could be visited and kept vibrant.
