An articulated complex of caves of karst origin, known as Devil's dens (Tane del Diavolo) opens out on the slopes of the hill where the village of Parrano (TR) rises on the walls of a gorge, along the fosso of Bagno. These cavities have produced significant archaeological materials from different eras, ranging from the Eneolithic to the later phases of the Bronze Age.
At the beginning of the gorge, a naturally heated spring gushes out water at a temperature of about 28°C. Here there is a small geothermal lake.
The lower floor of the Elementary School, at the entrance of Parrano, houses the Territorial Documentation Center or Territorial Museum, a small exhibition complex with several sections, including one dedicated to the geology of the territory and the formation of the canyon where the Devil's Dens are located, and another to the history of archaeological excavations at the Dens and their results with a display of artefacts from the Upper Palaeolithic and the Final Bronze Ages.
