Pozzo d’Antullo is an immense sinkhole located on a plain beneath the La Monna and Rotonaria mountain range, near Collepardo (FR). It is a karst canyon of huge dimensions – 140+m in diameter, 370+ m perimeter, 60m depth – that originated when karstic activity in the area caused the earth to sink. The shape of the stalactites on the walls was probably created by air currents from the side tunnels. Meanwhile, the sinkhole floor has a wealth of vegetation with trees up to 20m high.
Pozzo d’Antullo is located in the Natural Regional Park of Monti Ausoni e Lago di Fondi, two sites of geological significance in the municipality of Collepardo.
