Inaugurated in 1988, the Butterfly House of Montegrotto Terme is one of the first live butterfly exhibitions in the world and a major visitor destination in the province of Padua. The natural habitats for butterflies and many other species of tropical animals and plants have been recreated in approximately 1,500 m2 of roofed building.
The Butterfly House hosts numerous interactive workshops and includes the Enchanted Wood (6,000 m2 of a pathway dedicated to mythological nature). The park features picnic areas, ample free parking, access for the disabled, and a themed shop.
The Butterfly House is located in Montegrotto Terme (one of the largest spas in Europe with a wide range of curative spa treatments, relaxation and well-being), near an important Roman-era archaeological site at the foot of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.
