Bologna’s Palazzo Baciocchi, or Palazzo di Giustizia, was built by the illustrious Ruini family, who commissioned the design from the internationally renowned architect Andrea Palladio. This attribution is supported by tradition and contemporary local sources, although the execution was entrusted to local artists without his supervision.
The interiors feature the hall of the Court of Appeal, designed in the second decade of the 18th century by Ferdinando Bibiena, and the majestic staircase of honour.
The palace, seat of the city court until a few years ago, now houses the Court of Appeal of Bologna.
