Palazzo di San Giacomo stands in the territory of Russi (RA), near the right bank of the Lamone river, approximately 2km from the residential centre, and is presently owned by the town council.
The earliest records of the building date to 1155 but the majestic, present-day residence was built by the Rasponi Counts in the late 17th century. The façade of the building, including the two side towers, measures just over 84m in length. The central structure has three storeys, while the side towers have five. Today the entire piano nobile is frescoed and, despite some damage, the decoration offers a vast and remarkable pictorial cycle dating between the 1600 and 1700s.
The family chapel, dedicated to St. James, stands next to the building. Built in the second half of the 18th century to a design by Cosimo Morelli, the church is connected to the palace by two different corridors, one for staff, the other for the family.
