Alpe di Campogrosso, in the heart of the Piccole Dolomiti, is located at 1,464m above sea level in the province of Vicenza. Combining plains and vertical rockfaces, the landscape offers picturesque views in both summer and winter.
The area has natural and historical significance with sites dating to WWII, and is suited to a range of outdoor sports (trekking, rock climbing, alpine climbing, motorbiking etc.). A particularly interesting circular itinerary suggests a three hour walk that passes by a number of shepherds’ cottages (or malga): malga Fondi, malga Storta, malga Pra di Mezzo, malga Boffetal, malga Campogrosso.
Alpe di Campogrosso has been inscribed as a Site of Community Importance and is included in the Monti Lessini – Pasubio – Piccole Dolomiti Vicentine Special Protection Zone (Zona di Protezione Speciale - ZPS) and Rete Natura 2000, the European Union’s key tool in biodiversity conservation.
