Tures Castle is an imposing fortified complex north-east of Campo Tures, offering a sensational scenario amidst the majestic mountains surrounding the Valley of Campo Tures.
The history of its construction indicates that it was an important dynastic castle in the Middle Ages. It was built at the beginning of the 13th century on a spur that separates the valle di Tures from the valle Aurina. The main building facing the Acereto mountain to the north (assault side) comprises the annex and adjoining habitable tower, while the castellan's house (later a granary) is located to the west in a sheltered position. The built area with natural land in front is delimited by a wall on which several residential buildings rest, mostly dating to the early 16th century. The fortifications around the entrance tower (15th century) are very important to the study of castles.
The Gothic frescoes inside the chapel are noteworthy, depicting, among other things, a rare deesis, as are the numerous furnished rooms with wooden panelling. The castle was restored in the 19th and 20th centuries.
