Palazzo Pfanner, which dates back to the 17th century, is located on the edge of the 16th-century city walls of Lucca. It is known for its exquisite Italian-style Baroque garden designed by Filippo Juvarra, and its imposing staircase designed and built by Scorsini and De Santi (in the first half of the 18th century). The Palazzo is home to an exhibition on old medical and surgical instruments which used to belong to Pietro Pfanner, a surgeon and former mayor of Lucca.
