Rocca di Cambio (AQ) is a small mountain town located on the northern side of the Altopiano delle Rocche, in the Regional Park of Sirente-Velino. At a height of 1,434 metres above sea level it is the highest municipality in the Apennines. It is a popular tourist destination for winter sports, and is home to the Campo Felice ski resort. The Collegiate of St. Peter’s is located at the highest point in the town: the church has a single aisle and nine altars; the central altar has a recess, which houses a wooden and majolica statue of St. Peter dating back to the 10th century. The Chiesa Madre di Santa Maria o dell’Annunziata on the other hand was built in the 16th century: it has three aisles and is home to a fine baptismal font in white stone with a hexagonal base dating back to 1569. The Abbey of Santa Lucia is a Romanesque-style church located approximately 2km from Rocca di Cambio. It dates back to the 12th century and is a national monument.
