At a height of 1,100 metres above sea level sits San Sebastiano dei Marsi, 150 inhabitants, a district of Bisegna in the province of Aquila. In Medieval times it was ruled over by the Marsi and Piccolomini families. A village built mainly from stone, it’s an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Giovenco Valley. Monuments of interest include the Churches of Madonna di Loreto and San Sebastiano, which was built on the ruins of a monastery dating back to 1000.
