A classic example of Italian Gothic architecture, Florence Cathedral, which was built between the 13th and 15th centuries, is one of the biggest buildings in the world (measuring 153m long and 38m wide). The exterior of the church is covered in panels of coloured marble of different shapes and sizes, with green and pink pieces in the middle bordered by white. The building, which is organised in three naves, is home to frescoes by Paolo Uccello and Andrea del Castagno, and lunettes by Luca della Robbia. The dome is adorned with the great Last Judgment by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari.
