The parco regionale naturale dell'Inviolata (Inviolata Regional Nature Park) covers a surface area of about 2,000 hectares in the municipality of Guidonia Montecelio (RM) and is managed by the Parco regionale dei monti Lucretili. The park’s wealth of natural elements and variegated biodiversity of fauna and flora are due to its unusual characteristics with multiple water courses (including the streams del Cupo, Capaldo and dell’Inviolata), gallery forest, cultivated fields, ponds and lakes and tuff rock canyons with rock vegetation.
Significant architectural artefacts have been found in the area: the ruins of ancient villas, mausoleums, medieval farmhouses and Roman-era roads. The famous sculptural group of the Capitoline Triad, dating to the second half of the 2nd century C.E., was found here. The park’s hills offer views of Colli Albani, the Prenestini, Lucretili, Cornicolani mountains and Mount Soratte.
