(Monti Lucretili Regional Nature Park) is a protected nature reserve of 18,000 hectares in the pre-Apennine range in Lazio. The highest peaks of the Lucretili range, which is mostly limestone, include mount Pellecchia (1,368m) and mount Gennaro (1,271m). The slopes are covered with extensive woods of beech and larch but there is also space for wide plains and numerous small lakes. Some of the most famous, the lakes of Percile, also known as lagustelli, are a main attraction of the park.
The park includes several small borgoes characterised with narrow houses standing at the foot of massive castles, abbeys and hermitages. These include Scandriglia, with its rustic landscapes that preserve the tradition of the Sabine countryside, Orvinio, the Hermitage of San Cataldo, in the municipality of Cottanello, Roccagiovine and Licenza, where the Roman poet Horace would retreat.
