Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern

Description

Picturesque Fiè is the first village you encounter upon entering the Sciliar (Schlern) Massif area, if you come from the direction of Bolzano (Bozen).

Located on the gentle slopes directly below the Sciliar Massif and situated on a small hill, from here you can look down into the Isarco (Eisacktal) Valley, directly onto Presule (Prösles) Castle, and straight up towards the Sciliar Massif. At the highest point of the hill stands the village church and, a little bit apart, the Chapel of St. Peter atop St. Peter Bühel, where goats and chamois graze and lounge in the sun. The village features older, original buildings interspersed with modern yet well-integrated architecture. Fiè is also known for its hay-based tradition, especially hay baths.
