Where it was filmed 'A Discovery of Witches'

There are numerous Italian locations for the fantasy drama based on Deborah Harkness’ best-selling trilogy which shot mostly in South Wales, Oxford and Venice. Cited numerous times in the series, the lagoon city is the base for the headquarters of the Congregation (a government that works to protect vampires, witches and demons from discovery by humans), whose exteriors are those of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore with the Palladian Cloister of the Benedictine monastery.

Palazzo Contarini Polignac, near the Ponte dell'Accademia, is the residence of the Gerbert D'Aurillac vampires, Domenico and Juliette. The exterior of the ancestral home of the Clermont family, Castello Sept-Tours in the drama, is actually Monselice Castle, in the province of Padua.

Other Italian sets include: Turin, Medieval Borgo, Parco del Valentino with the 12 Month Fountain and several streets in the historical centre and Alto Adige, in particular Castle Presule in Fiè allo Sciliar.
