Palazzo Rosso on via Garibaldi in the historical centre of Genoa was built in 1677 by architect Pietro Antonio Corradi. It is one of the 42 Palazzi dei Rolli, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Palace is laid out in a “U” shape, with two wings linked by loggias that enclose a square inner courtyard.
The residence was property of the Brignole Sale family for two centuries until 1874 when Duchess Maria Brignole Sale De Ferrari decided to donate the palace and its art collections to the Municipality of Genoa. Today the palace houses the first section of the Strada Nuova Museums (which also include Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria Tursi) and displays the Brignole Sale collections in rooms that have retained their original decoration and furnishing.
