The Ambulacri of Marina di Castellone are the remains of a balneum (private bathroom) of a first century B.C.E. Roman seaside villa, now part of the Archaeological, Landscape and Monumental complex of Formia (Latina).
Standing on a bay in the centre of Formia, the archaeological site has polygonal walls from the 3rd to 4th century B.C.E. facing the mountains and a single room on the western side.
One of the five rooms conserves priceless plasterwork on the ancient sea-facing wall, which may date to pre-Roman times. The beach below, at the heart of the town’s coastline, is close to the ruins of a Roman harbour now underwater.
