Like all the capitolia modelled on Rome’s Campidoglio, the Capitolium of Terracina was a temple dedicated to the Capitoline Triad of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. The cultural complex of Terracina, which dates to 1st century B.C.E, was originally decorated with four Doric-Tuscan columns with three cells in tuff and limestone reticulate above bothroi or favissae (pits where votive offerings to the three gods were conserved) parts of which still stand today.
